Relationship Advice With the Love Doctor Pt.2

Relationship+Advice+With+the+Love+Doctor+Pt.2

By: Marlene Cazarez

Welcome back to all you love birds. After a long, nice, relaxing Christmas break the love doctor is back in action to help you shoot your shot 2k18. I’m here to help you through the best and worsts parts of relationships.

The first question comes from an anonymous junior:

How do you know when to tell your parents you’re dating someone?

Finally breaking the news to your parents about you dating someone else can create many questions (like whether or not your mom will beat you with a chancla). The result with this depends on your parents attitude. If your parents are lenient when it comes to you dating, it’ll obviously be easier for you to break the news to them. If they’re more on the strict side then it’ll definitely be harder.

Whether your parents are lenient or strict, you should at least tell them what’s going on in your love life. Letting them know that you are dating someone will make life easier in many ways: they won’t be surprised about your future relationships, you won’t have to sneak around, and you’ll build (perhaps more) trust with your parents. You wouldn’t want your parents to find out from someone else and make them distrust you.

As to introducing your significant other to your parents, make sure that it’s the right person. What is meant by the ‘right person’ is that the person you are with treats you with respect and you see your relationship going in the right direction. Some people are just not worth bringing home and not all deserve to meet the most important people in your life.

The second question comes from sophomore Jasmine Martinez:

What do you do when you’re heartbroken?

After ending things with someone that meant the world to you, it may feel like the end of the world. Getting heartbroken sucks and hurts. It is okay to cry and feel sad but you have to remember to be positive and remind yourself that, with time, it will be better. Broken-Heart-Boy-put604desi49.jpg (800×600)

#1: Be optimistic: It may feel like the end of the world and as if you’ll never find anyone else but it is only high school. You have the rest of your life to find someone that will actually know how to value you and grow to love you.

#2: Don’t rush getting into any new relationships: Take this time of healing as an opportunity to help better yourself as a person and figure out who you really are.

#3: Talk to someone: Find someone you trust to talk to. It is no good to keep feelings bottled up. Hopefully, their words will be able to make you feel better.

#4: Do things you enjoy: Get out of your house. There are many things you can do to not be heartbroken. Even trying new things could help.

Lastly, don’t waste your time thinking about a boy/girl that’s most likely not thinking about you. Learn to stop letting some consume your thoughts, emotions, and mind. Get out, get some air and turn that frown upside down.
