Pitching History

Pitching+History

For the first time this season a No-Hitter was thrown in the MLB. It was thrown May 25th by Josh Beckett of the Los Angeles Dodgers. A pitcher who is coming from a down year threw the first no hitter this season. He missed a huge part of a disappointing season in 2013. He had gone 0-5 with a high ERA before having season ending surgery. His season ended due to having required neck surgery and surgery on a numb nerve. Beckett who appears to be in the final chapters of his career is now in the record books for good. Adding a no hitter to his resume and accomplishments which he has 2 world series rings. He won one with the Marilins in 2003 then 4 years later with the Red sox.

Not only is a no hitter a tough task but it is a great accomplishment. It has been a yearly thing as we have seen several pitchers throw no hitters. The main point of a no hitter is not allowing anyone to get a hit off of you. The greater accomplishment is a perfect game in which no one gets on base. The pitcher would be facing the minimum. In exchange a no hitter is when the pitcher gives up a walk or the defense commits an error. Talking about perfect games and no hitters the following night Ryu stepped up to the mound. Ryu had things going following up Beckett. Ryu was Absolutely dominant and took a perfect game into the 8th inning. Before he came up to take the mound dodgers had a big inning in which he had a 30 min break he seem to have lost his rhythm and gave up a hit on the first pitch of the inning. The dodgers appear to have one of the best rotations in all of baseball.
