2013 Comedy/Thrill PG-13 movie Instructions Not Included directed by Eugenio Derbez is a movie I would recommend for those who like experiencing different emotions while watching a movie. I would say this movie makes you feel like you’re on a rollercoaster. It’s about a man who would love to party and be around different women. One day one of the women showed up to his door with his unexpected daughter (Maggie) who had recently just been born. Knowing nothing about fatherhood, he was forced to learn quickly because the mother of his child caught a flight and purposely left the baby with him. Even though he had no papers, he still found a way to make it to America illegally with the goal to find Maggie’s mom. After growing love for the child, he gained fear and hoped her mom wouldn’t come and try taking her away. While raising Maggie, he taught her how to be very brave and found a job in LA to maintain both of them. Since he knew nothing about the mom, he would write letters to Maggie pretending it was her “superhero mom” too busy to go visit because she was “saving lives and going on the craziest adventures”. Maggie had a medical condition and the father knew she could die any day. Towards the end of the movie, Maggie’s mom locates them and comes to try to take her away. After thinking he won custody in court, the results of the paternity test came back and so he found out she wasn’t even his biological daughter so he couldn’t keep her anymore. His daughter didn’t want to leave him so they decided to run away to his hometown acapulco without the mom. After the mom finds them, she stays with them till one day Maggie dies in the dads arms.
Something I really liked about this movie is that it has many funny scenes and compared to other movies, I would say this movie is unique and different. Overall, I would give it 5 stars. While watching this movie I felt all sad, angry, happy, and way more emotions throughout all the different scenes. You can find this movie on Youtube, Apple TV, The Roku Channel, Puto TV, and more. It teaches a good lesson to appreciate your children and love/ do what you can for them. This movie would be a great inspiration for single fathers raising children on their own.
