A thrilling new collection of houses has arrived at Universal Studios Hollywood for Halloween Horror Nights with new original story lines and new set designs for some houses compared to past years. Continuing their fan favorite Latin Mostrous houses with “Monstrous 2: The Nightmares of Latin America” bring new urban legend characters like “El Cucuy” and “El Charro Negro”. Also bringing back The Weekend with his “Nightmare Trilogy” with a lot of colorful light effects and featuring The Weekend’s biggest hits.
Many people have expressed to be very excited for this long awaited time of the year. Fans have expressed to be interested in the new original story line houses that Universal has brought this year. One of them being Universal Monsters:Eternal Bloodlines with a return of several female monsters including Dracula’s daughter, Bride of Frankestine along with two new characters Saskia Van Helsing and Namun related to The Mummy.
Another original house for this year’s Halloween Horror Night is Death Valley Exposure. This house is a military location laboratory that has been experimenting on humans to make immortal soldiers but has gone terribly wrong and turned people into radioactive zombies.
For the 50th anniversary of Chainsaw Massacre it is making a return to HHN set inside a slaughterhouse that has been shut down making meat being harder to find for the “Hitchhiker” of the 1974 film. Various leatherface from all movies are being used to create a multiverse parallel to the 1974 film. This house is expected to be gory and realistic.
Angel Cortez, a twelfth-grade student said in our interview, “A house that caught my attention this year is The Weekend and the Texas chainsaw massacre.”
Twelfth-grade student and Halloween Horror Night enthusiast Giselle Rocha said, “I keep going back because of the houses and because I’m a big horror fan. I love seeing movies being turned into houses.”
This year HHN has turned various movies into haunted houses, including “A Quiet Place”, “Insidious: The Further”, and “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire”. These houses are expected to have very detailed settings especially “The Quiet Place” as it is the first time that actors use American Sign language, and “Ghostbusters” house is expected to have a very accurate setting to the movie.
Giselle Rocha said in our interview when asked about what she is looking forward to this year at HHN, “I’m looking towards Insidious this year as she’s heard I heard it’s the scariest and I’m a fan of the movie and I want to see the house this year to experience something new with the setting.”
Universal Studios has also brought back this year early access for one and a half hours for an extra $10-15 and after 2pm access allowing you to also explore the park before it gets spooky but to also help skip long waiting times.
Cortez, as a first timer who plans to go, said “I’m expecting it to be a lot of fun with my friends but there will also be long wait lines.”
Third time attender of HHN Giselle said “ I would tell first timers to buy early access tickets for 1.5 hours ahead for $10 to get a head start.”
Horror fans are excited this year for new houses, new shows, and new themed house menus as they have seen a lot of promoting lately on social media about HHN tempting them to go.
Angel said “The First thing that caught my attention was seeing a girl’s deep dives on the houses on social media.”
Giselle said “ This year the first thing that caught my attention was a quiet place as they have been talking a lot about their new settings.”
Each year HHN gains more fans due to influencers and promotional videos. Many fans enjoy the feeling of getting scared and the feeling of having their heart race fast.
Giselle has said one of the reasons she keeps going back is because, “I keep going back because I like the adrenaline and love having my heart race even if I’m scared.”
With their new houses and original story lines, Halloween Horror Nights 2024 is set to deliver an even scarier experience for their horror fans ensuring they have their heart beating fast and amazed.
