School lunch lines are a terrible experience with students cutting in line and making the line harder than it has to be I don’t think there was a single day where students were not all bunched up to get lunch and it takes so long to get my lunch because lots of people were cutting and there is no staff in the line to keep the students in check. I don’t think it’s a good idea for the lunch lines to keep being like this because I see the lunch ladies visually stressed out because there’s a bunch of students trying to get their lunch all at once because they all keep cutting in line to get food.
Also I can sometimes be a part of this problem because I get frustrated in line because everyone else is cutting and the line is not moving anymore so I just decide to make my way to get lunch because I get very hungry around lunch time. Another way I can be a part of this problem is when I actually do stay in line and people who are behind me are asking to be excused to pass by and I let them because I really don’t want to make a fuss about being cut in line.I don’t really want to start a problem over some school lunch food it’s not worth it.
Days where the school lunch lines can be overwhelming for both students and faculty is pizza day and also Fridays. Pizza day is the worst for the lunch line even though there might be extra staff to control the students. It is hard for them because there’s students all hyped up and rowdy and loud and just annoying. They push and shove and people are no longer more eager to be cut in line so arguments take place as well. On Fridays school usually has their most popular school lunch food which is usually mini pizza and a burrito. That is why the line is more full of a bunch of people that cut in line because they want lunch. I think the best time to get your lunch is 20 minutes after the bell rings after lunch starts so it can be faster and easier for you to get your food.
While it can be difficult keeping the students in line and for them to be more calm I think more presence of adults can be better because if students see someone that they respect in the lunch line they won’t be eager to cut the line as much and not be a nuisance. I think instead of the security guards being at the restroom they can be at the lunchline and different people can guard the restrooms. Or they can have one good staff member keeping the line in order for all the students.
In conclusion to my rant about how I don’t like school lunch lines, they should definitely keep pizza day because it is a good treat for us because we work so hard in school and it’s very stressful keeping our grades up. I am grateful to be a part of this school and the writing team but please somehow make the lunch line better.
