Animo Pat Brown should invest in getting a better soccer field. Soccer is the most popular sport in our school so APB should have improved the field and the quality of the turf. For context, APB is a small school and does not have a full sized soccer field. Due to this fact, at APB we play our home games at roosevelt park down the street from the school. Despite this, APB should invest in a higher quality soccer field for the benefit of the athletes and the school as a whole.
The quality of the field is not good because you are able to lift up the turf and there are bumps. The turf is not good quality making many cleats break or wear out fast. One of my soccer teammates broke the studs of their cleats. Many people have worn out their cleats, making them have to buy new ones. Buying cleats is very expensive and it is not cheap. The fact that the turf is ruining our cleats when we waste money so we can play in the team. The fact that the turf is able to lift can lead to people tripping or falling. This can lead to people getting injured and hurt. Many people have already gotten hurt on the field. The soccer team has also done fundraising for the team but where does the money go? The school should talk to the soccer team and see what they want and need because the soccer team are the ones who go play and represent the school. Yes we know that the uniforms can be expensive but the soccer team should have a say on what the money is being used for. For example the design on the jersey we are going to wear and the equipment and especially improving the quality of the field.
It is not fair for the people who are representing the school and going to play soccer. Soccer is the best sport that our school provides, having it be the most popular sport. The boy soccer team is the best team in the school and they should support the team more by improving the quality of the soccer field. The school would be more known due to the soccer team winning their games. The school being more known would make more students want to come for their academics and sports. This means the school would be known for having good academic and great sport teams. I remember in our first game I think the soccer team was playing against an all boy school and this guy from the other team told me that he was going to come to the school and was waiting to get accepted. You could tell he was really into soccer and I beleive the field would be a dealbreaker for him and other students who are considering APB as their school.
The field is where we train and prepare for the games. The school does not have a home field at our school, we have to go play at the park roosevelt. Roosevelt is our home where we play home games and we have to be walking to the park. The school should at least be able to improve the field because that is where we train and get ready for our games. The soccer team puts the hard work and effort out on the field to be ready and represent our school and go win games.
Overall the school should be able to invest in improving the soccer field because the athletes work hard and bring a lot of attention to the school. APB is known for academics but it could be know for it’s most popular sport, soccer. Athletes make APB stand out for things outside academics and therefore sports programs and equipment like the field should be a priority for the school.
