Recently, APB has been flooded with students who are selling chocolate bars for two dollars in order to fundraise for their position on next school years sports teams.
Athletes and coaches agree we should fundraise the necessary amount in order to put our team through the season. But not necessarily with the form which they are told to fundraise and get into detail on how APB sports admin can make this process easier.
“I feel like it’s something that can help the team get more supplies, materials and more equipment to practice and maybe get more training kits,” senior Giancarlo, a APB student said.
Giancarlo, who is a Animo Pat Brown student athlete, feels the fundraising is a great way for athletes to raise money for the benefit of their own teams resources. And should be used for new equipment for practices.
“I think the we could fundraise by selling chips, drinks or just food,” Giancarlo said
Senior Giancarlo believes there could be an easier way of fundraising money rather than selling t-shirts most people don’t want to buy. He provides some ideas like selling snacks students and other people are more willing to purchase.
Another member of the sports team, Coach Hinojosa gives us an insight of what he believes in fundraising.
“I think it’s something that is necessary in order to keep the sports programs running, and I think it also teaches the students that it’s a responsibility for them to be a part of the school teams,” coach Hinojosa says.
Coach Hinojosa who is also APB’s 11th grade World History teacher believes not only does fundraising benefit the team but also teaches athletes responsibility and the value of being on the school’s team.
“I think the fundraising amount is definitely achievable. It just depends on the students, if they actually want to or try to sell it. I think that is also noticeable when it comes to the amount that they have to pay,’’ Hinojosa says.
Coach Hinojosa believes if the students really care and put time for the team the $150 is a fair and achievable amount for students to fundraise.
