The Boys volleyball season will begin this year in 2025 in the month of February, being led by Coach Cruz at Animo pat brown.
In the Year 2023 APB High School tried to create and bring back the boys volleyball team. Unfortunately they weren’t able to meet the requirements this meant another year of no boys volleyball team. It has been half a decade since APB had a boys volleyball team in 2018.
Now in the year 2025 the school has been brought back by Mr Kyle Cieply he met the requirements to have a boys volleyball team again.
With the season starting soon and tryouts are the 7th of February being led by the current coach of the girls volleyball team Coach Cruz. The first game is confirmed already for the boys volleyball team on February 18th
Julio Iriarte, a senior in Animo pat brown, who is going to try out for boys volleyball said how he feels about the boys volleyball program coming back after a decade.
“I feel excited because i feel like a lot of people in the school wanted this program for a while and we can compete and go for the title even tho it might be unrealistic according to some people”
Julio Iriarte has been preparing himself for boys volleyball for some time on his own before the season has even started.
“I have attended the practices that the coach Cruz has done and help us learn techniques that coordinate to volleyball and go to gyms and play with other people to help me improve”
Coach Cruz, the boys volleyball coach shares why he thinks it’s a good idea for boys to join the team.
“Cause a lot of boys play VB so it would be a pretty interesting and not to have it for so long is disappointing but now that we have it back open eyes for boys to play and play competitively to try to win playoffs ,”
Coach Cruz, Coach Cruz has been coaching the girls volleyball for two years now. Although it’s the same sport, he’s going to have a different approach to coaching the boys team
“Take it one day at a time half of the boys team is seniors so I want them to apprentice the process the season will start quick and end quick to prepare and make it to play offs and be in control of what’s in front of us by taking it easy”
Abraham Mares, a senior talks about why he decided to tryout for volleyball
“My friends talked to me about joining and I wanted a sport to do and so I thought vb was a challenge. Therefore, I wanted to try to compete to gain the title and win playoffs vb and has been a fun sport to play as of right now”
APB students are more than excited to play boys volleyball competitively against other Animo schools.
