Jessica Ramos elected Student Council president

Jessica Ramos was elected President of Student Council for the 2011-2012 school year on Wednesday, August 24th. As president, Jessica said she hopes to lead to help benefit the people of APB.

“I am very happy to have been elected president by my peers,” Jessica said. “I will do my best to deliver favorable results.”

Jessica will be assisted by several other elected Student Council leaders.  Diana Ozuna was elected vice president, Justine Cervantes is vice president for fundraiser organizing, Tiffany Marquez is secretary, Liliana Ruiz is vice president of senior activities, and Katia Martinez is treasurer.

Each leader is excited about their responsibilities.

“As vice president of senior activities my job is to organize all senior activities and get in contact with business such as Six Flags for Grad Night and make sure my committee does what they are assigned to do,” said senior activities leader Liliana said.

“I was excited because I have known her for four years and is a great leader and good at communicating with peers,” Liliana said.

Jessica plans to tackle the presidency with great confidence by stating that she will “revolutionize the presidency”, She will revolutionize the presidency by “stepping up to the play and knowing the responsibilities and take action”.

Jessica said every president wants to change and learn from former leaders.

The 2011-2012 school year’s budget is lower than it has been in previous years, fundraising is a priority, right now they are making plans on how they will be raising money.

“Budget cuts are upsetting but we are committed to do as much as much as possible to fund raise the money,” Jessica said.

The budget cuts won’t affect the school as a whole, we have a good budget and activities won’t be affected Student Council Jessica Ramos said.
