Petco is removing all dog and cats treats manufactured in China, due to the fact that the product Chinese Jerky Treats resulted in the killing of more than 1,000 dogs. This problem has been under investigation due to complaints of customers saying that the jerky treats has been making their dogs sick. In a recent interview, the FDA stated that “ Since 2007, they have been receiving more than 4,800 reports of dog illnesses possibly related to the consumption of jerky treats, many made in China” (www.usatoday.com). Petco has stated that, “ By the end of the year 2014, they are not going to be selling any treats made in China”. These treats don’t only affect dogs but also cats has well, in recent updates it is said, “To have involve more than 5,600 dogs, 24 cats, threepeople and include more than 1,000 canine deaths. There does not appear to be a geographic pattern to the case reports.” (www.foodsafetynews.com).

The FDA has said that if you believe your dog might be sick due to these treats, to look for symptoms: that include change in appetite,  vomiting, diarrhea, increased water consumption or increased urination.
