    The Hate U Give

You might be wondering “what is the point of this novel?” or “what is the author trying to make you aware of?” Well, this is a novel that was written by Audrey Wells and was published on February 28, 2017. The novel was then turned into a film which came out on October 5, 2018.

The principal photography for the film began September 12, 2017 in Atlanta, Georgia and was directed by George Tillman.

The Hate U Give is a novel that talks about a real life experience that a young girl had to live with. It makes you understand that everyone has a voice within themselves and if you speak up your voice will be heard. The novel and film were inspired by the song “Thug Life” which stands for, “The Hate U Give Little Infants Fucks Everybody”.

People should watch this film and pay attention to every single detail because the smallest things have the most powerful meanings. This film and book will change the way you look at things.

You may think that gang violence, police brutality, and  kids of all ages getting shot by the people who are supposed to be  protecting us and serve us as well as our community, would never happen in your neighborhood, right? Instead of us feeling safe and protected by cops, we are afraid to even step foot outside our house.  A 17 year old boy getting shot for not keeping his hands were they were supposed to stay. It is 2018 and these types of situations are currently happening in our community of South Central. More importantly, issues like this are now happening around the world. From 1872 through 2018, police brutality has been a big issue throughout America. How much longer will we let this happen and allow these situations to evolve?
