Class of 2026 Prom was a long awaited day for many; it meant celebrating a milestone, a peak point marking the near closing of Senior Year. Getting dressed up and seeing one another in a different setting was quite unusual as all we know what it means to be in school (locked up). However, it meant forgetting the worries of the past and the future. To get away for a little while and distract ourselves in a moment that we can all call our own. Surrounded by friends, we’ve known for what seems like forever and our favorite teachers and staff. To a definitely remarkable and notable prom year that will go down in history. I hope that you can enjoy or rejoy the recap of the Class of 2026 Prom that took place on April 18. Shall we take a trip down memory lane?

Nevarez: “I love attending and experiencing prom every year because it’s truly a testament to all the collaborative work that student council, leadership, and the whole senior class have put in this year. We spent months leading up to this day fundraising through cup noodle sales and movie nights, all so we could give the senior class the wonderful night they deserve.”

Ashley Zarate and Luis Santiago
Ashley: “I worried I might not get picked but I also felt excited and nervous to finally hear the results of being prom queen. Something that I’ve been dreaming of is being prom queen since freshman year. So when I got called to be prom queen with my partner I got so excited I didn’t even notice how loud I screamed it was amazing to see how many people who are supporting us were around us as we dancing and celebrating!”
Luis: “I felt really happy and nervous. Not only because I didn’t know what to do, but also because of everyone was looking at us and smiling. We didn’t even know where to go. But I was happy because the thought that people had thought about Prom King and Queen, and they thought about my partner and me. If it weren’t for their votes, we wouldn’t have had that moment, and I’m grateful for that.” (Natalia Chairez)

Luis: “Prom was fun, I had a good experience. Overall I love dancing with my friends and other people but the downside was the food. I think they could have provide us something better but I had a good experience with my friend Eduardo and Chris they both got lit up dancing. I had a great time with Ivan and Dayleen and others.”
Dayleen: “Prom was pretty fun I had a lot of fun with my friends and everyone had a great time together. My only concern was how prom did seem to be and feel a bit divided but nonetheless I think everyone had fun.”

Melissa: “Prom for me was fun. I got to spend time with my closest friends outside of the classroom which is always fun! I enjoyed seeing everyone dressed up and having a good time! As for the behind the scenes in the student council, I didn’t have much say on prom because it was the Senior Committee but I saw many of the decisions leading up to prom.”

Saray: “For me personally prom was fun. I honestly expected less people to dance and enjoy the night. I loved that we had the opportunity to share prom and our success of almost completing high school with a setting that’s more elegant and fun and different from school and our usual uniform. I enjoyed the sweet treats and the decoration of the place. Overall it was surprising how it turned out I was expecting a more serious vibe for prom but it turned out to be really great.”
Alexander: “I would say prom was a very entertaining event. I believe that at first everyone was kind of shy and didn’t want to break the ice yet the vibe was slowly building up. The overall atmosphere when people were dancing and having an overall good time was fantastic. It truly felt like a bonding moment between all of us who were there as we were dancing and having fun together for maybe one of the last times. The music was alright I believe they should’ve added more genres because towards the end the music became repetitive so that’s somewhat of a critique I have. The food which was a constant issue between fellow peers. But overall prom was a wonderful and great experience for me and lastly the theme felt confusing. I believe roaring 20’s would have made more sense compared to the Great Gatsby. So maybe less people are confused about the theme and can dress accordingly.”

Martha: “Prom was fun and enjoyable because I was able to spend time with my friends as well as just spend a night without worrying about any assignments.”

Danny: “Prom was a really fun experience. I was able to hangout with my friends and dance with them without judgement. The food was not the best but I enjoyed the lamb chomps. I think that’s what they were and I especially liked the desserts. At first I thought prom was going to be boring but actually being there was really fun.”

Valeria: “I felt happy that I was able to spend prom alongside my friends! Preparing for prom wasn’t stressful because Mr.Nevarez was mainly in charge and wanted to make this event memorable for all the Seniors.” (Nayeli Zacarias)

Ronaldo: “My experience at prom wasn’t what I expected, I honestly thought prom was going to be boring but it ended up being fun. I liked the food and how honestly everyone came together and it was funny especially when me and my friends stayed outside checking people in.”

Lizbeth: “Prom for me was a good and unique experience where I got to get ready for a nice event. I got to share it with my classmates. I loved having to go shopping for my dress and ended up falling in love with one that was just for me. I enjoyed getting ready like doing my makeup and getting dressed up for prom was good but not the best expectations where the good can range from your liking but is something for everyone. My highlight from prom was taking a lot of photos of ourselves and my friends in our dresses and getting myself ready to look my best”
(Nayeli Zacarias)

Christian : “I wasn’t really focused on the fact that the night was gonna end eventually. I was just trying to enjoy myself as much as possible because there will be nothing like this in the future. I felt very at home since I was around everyone I grew up with”
Jenrry : “ Prom was cool. It was a good experience and I really enjoyed how Ms. Haro and her Wife opened up the dance floor and made everyone dance. I would say being able to hang out with friends in a different setting and being with teachers in a different environment was the highlight of the night.”
(Nayeli Zacarias)

Ms. Haro:
“Prom has always been a really meaningful experience for me because my wife and I volunteer to chaperone every year, and each year ends up creating new memories with our students. It feels special to be part of such an important event in the seniors’ high school experience. We always open the dance floor together as soon as we get there and the energy in the room completely changes. We spent the night dancing, pulling students into the crowd, and encouraging everyone to let go, unwind, and just enjoy the moment. One of my favorite parts of the night was taking photobooth pictures with students throughout the evening. Those little moments captured how joyful and connected the atmosphere felt. Prom is always a great experience because it gives students a chance to celebrate themselves, have fun with their friends, and create lasting memories outside of the classroom. It is one of the few nights where everyone can simply enjoy being together as a school community, and being able to share that experience with students every year is something I truly value.” (Nayeli Zacarias)

Thank you for the teachers and staff that helped to chaperone the event. It was nice to see familiar faces in a social setting outside of school.
