Jocelyn Haro, known as Ms. Haro to students, has joined APB as the new pre-calculus and statistics teacher, replacing the previous teacher from Room 6. Ms. Haro brings four years of experience into her new job at APB.
Ms. Haro describes the move to APB as a big change, noting the supportive and structured administration.
“I have been enjoying my job more here because the administration is very supportive and structured,” she said.
Ms. Haro was thrilled when she got the opportunity to teach seniors because she knew that she would see actual data from students learning compared to her previous school site.
“It is how I imagined it would be, teaching the oldest kids,” Ms. Haro shared.
She enjoys preparing students for the workforce and adulthood, setting high expectations as many aim for college.
Previously Ms. Haro taught 7th graders but felt a need for change.
“I got tired of teaching 7th graders and felt I could make a positive impact on seniors,” she explained.
At first Ms. Haro was only planning on teaching pre-calculus but when she found out about teaching statistics she Initially hesitated but Ms. Haro has grown to enjoy the subject.
“I was shocked when I found out I would be teaching statistics. Eww, not statistics; I don’t like statistics,” she admitted.
Despite this, she now enjoys teaching statistics but still prefers pre-calculus.
Ms. Haro feels comfortable at APB and appreciates the welcoming and fair atmosphere.
“Everyone has been welcoming and fair, mostly,” she said, summarizing her positive experience so far.
“Sorry, my answers are not too elaborate; I am not an English teacher,” Ms. Haro added humorously.
