We should have a variety of AP classes at APB because as of now we lack in STEM field courses to better prepare ourselves for college.
Many seniors, such as Ronaldo Rosas feel like they’re not as prepared for college because the classes that correlate with their major are not at APB. For example, he says “I do not feel prepared to begin my major in engineering.”
Tania Melendez, a class of 2025 graduate mentions how not having AP classes that correlate with her major such as AP Psychology and AP Microeconomics put her a step behind while attending Cal State Long Beach University.
With the opportunity to take AP classes you can figure out whether that subject does catch your attention and if it’s actually worth your time. For example, students who take AP U.S. History has a better understanding of whether they choose to go into the Sociology field.
To add on, you can build study habits and learn how to better manage your time as AP classes are more fast paced. You learn to build habits such as using a planner and keeping up with deadlines.
To wrap up, an increase in AP classes should be a priority because it will prepare APB students for college, leadership, and life. APB should be on track and add AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, and AP Environmental Science.
