Paris Saint- Germain won the champions league final 4-3 on penalties after a draw 1-1 in extra time against Arsenal on May 31st they played in the Puskas Arena in Budapest.
Arsenal player Kai Havertz scored the first goal in the 6th minute after beating all of psg defence and going into a 1v1 against psg goalkeeper for the rest of the first half arsenal played very defensive the score was 1-0.
Psg equalized in the 56th minute of the second half after arsenals defence fouled psg player Kvicha Kvaratskelia inside the box earning them a penalty where Dembele scored making it 1-1 for the rest of the game until extra time.
The game was really important for both teams. Arsenal had just won the premier league after 22 years without winning and they had just made it to a champions league final they’ve never won the champions league they were looking forward to winning their first champions league.
Psg had just won the champions league for the first time in the clubs history they wanted to win it back to back after making it to the final 2 years in a row, they would become the 2nd club to win the champions league back to back.
PSG manager Luis Enrique said after the match, “This team never stopped believing. Even after going behind early, the players showed incredible character and determination.” Luis Enrique stayed calm throughout the whole penalty shootout believing his players.
During extra time both teams kept creating chances to score a goal and win the match but neither of them could finish. Both teams’ goalkeepers were crucial but Arsenal’s goalkeeper David Raya was the better goalkeeper; without him psg would’ve scored way more than just 1 goal.
The penalty shootout was very intense but two of Arsenal’s players missed their penalties and they ended up losing the champions league final to PSG.
One of PSG’s best players was Ousmane Dembele since he scored a penalty in the 65th minute to tie the game 1-1 in regular time.
This was a very important and historic moment for psg since they are the 2nd team in recent history to win 2 champions leagues in a row. This was also a very important moment for arsenal since they haven’t made it to a final in many years and they could’ve won there first champions league on may 30th.
