Legalizing Marijuana

Legalizing+Marijuana

Cannabis has many uses. It is used for hemp, medicinal motives, and as a recreational drug. This has been going on for a long while. Marijuana comes from the flowering cannabis plant. The effects of marijuana are a mild euphoria and relaxation. There are actually benefits of consuming marijuana for certain people who need it. The benefits of marijuana is that it treats pains as well as muscles, reduces nausea for those who are going through chemotherapy, and also for people who have AIDS. The main factor of the “high” that is given off of marijuana is called tetrahydrocannabinol or THC for short. The temporary bodily effects based on marijuana consumption are reddening of the eyes, decreased intraocular pressure, dry mouth, increased heart rate, relaxed muscles, and sensation of heat or cold on the skin.

Marijuana is illegal unless used for medical manners. Although tobacco and alcohol are legal and sold, they have accounted for many deaths while marijuana has not been seen to cause any deaths. It has already been legalized in the states of Washington and Colorado. Many states will follow in legalizing it as it would have a domino effect with many other states once they see the effects that it has on the economies of those states.

Legalizing marijuana comes with many benefits and would have a positive effect on the US economy. “Legalizing and regulating marijuana will bring the nation’s largest cash crop under the rule of the law, creating jobs and economic opportunities”(Marijuana Legalization and regulation). It would bring in a lot of money for the US as there is already many people who buy it and smoke it despite it being illegal. If it is legalized the US can then create retailers in the states in which they sell marijuana to those who want it and better the economy.  In the US over 45% of the population support the legalization of marijuana.
