The Dodgers season got off to a horrible start. The critics quickly began to criticize the team for all the spending that had been done during the off season. The Dodgers were seen as a team that was just throwing money around because of the huge trade with the Boston Red Sox and the off season signings of Hyun-Jin Ryu and Zach Greinke. At the beginning of the 2013 season the Dodgers began with what was the highest payroll ever for a team.

As the season began the Dodgers started off poorly the first couple of months. As a result of the bad start on June 22nd the Dodgers found themselves in last place being 9.5 games out of first place. In June 3 rd a young cuban phenom was called up by the name of  Yasiel Puig and with the return of  Hanley Ramirez  off of the DL two huge gaps were filled in the Dodger line up. The phenom quickly began making a name for himself in the big as in his debut doubling up a runner at first with a amazing throw from the right field warning track and followed it up with a two homer game on his next start.With things finally falling into place and with players finally getting healthy the real dodger team was seen. On June 22nd the Dodgers began a historic run going  42-8 through their next 50 games that put them up into first place.

That amazing stretch took them out of last place and put them into first. In a interview with senior  Oscar Zavala when asked his thoughts on the historic run he said  “it’s so amazing it doesn’t even happen in Hollywood- Vin Scully… worst to first” Mr.Villagomez says”when we were 12 games under 500 in the dog days of may I never lost hope because I knew they had a solid foundation. The managers they have now will lead us to victory they have our back. It has been a joy watching this team play.”That being said they have faith that the team well go far into October because they now have what looks like a great future. After the horrific start the dodgers found themselves as the National league Western division champs being the first team to clinch a playoff spot. The dodgers ended the season 22 games over 500 with a 92-70 record. They are now getting ready to began the National league division series against the braves on October 3rd. This team has great support from the fan base which are eager to see a championship brought home.
